Let's Reinvent Family Dinnertime!

Motivation for F.E.E.D.

Hi, my name is Karen Zackschewski. I am married to my high school sweetheart, George, and God has blessed us with one amazing, handsome, talented young man, Matthew. My family and I have been parishioners of St. John Neumann since 2010.

The idea for this website, sharing my love and experience of cooking was brought upon an image I saw in a restaurant – a family of 4 sitting in a booth, food on the table, kids on one side, parents on the other, but not one was looking at the other, no talking either - all 4 were looking down at their phones! ☹

The sight of this affected me and so I prayed…how can I help families, God, what’s my part? I felt the Lord answered my prayers: F.E.E.D. your soul. F is for fellowship, E is for education, E is for enlightenment and D is for devotion.

We are so involved in our work, computers, phones most of the day, how about we set one place where we turn all that off - the dinner table?! My favorite time of the day is when my family is at the table and we share about the events of our day. I love looking at my boys, hearing how their day was and sharing stories. It F.E.E.D.(s) my soul!

My hope for this website is for others to learn simple and basic cooking skills while enjoying company, fostering relationships, nourishing your spirit AND your family, and trying some great food!

Let’s get families connected again….with each other; rejuvenate stale relationships; learn how to save money by cooking at home; share family recipes.

We all have to eat food to stay alive and it is the same with spiritual food. The Bible is full of instructions on what food is good for us naturally and spiritually.

A Christian chef is a servant of God that provides nourishing food for our souls and bodies.
